Ray of light was released as the second single from the album of the same name. That album was Madonna's seventh Studio album and it was released in the first half of 1998. Her previous album, Bedtime Stories, was released in the second half of 1994 making it the longest stretch for Madonna to go between the release of Studio albums prior to the now longest stretch which is between Hard Candy and MDNA. That is four years approximately from Spring of 2008 to Spring of 2012, whereas the previous record was 3.5 years approx.
