Mariah Carey featuring Trey Lorenz: I’ll Be There

I’ll Be There is a great song.  It is truly the only reason that I bought the album on which it’s from.  That album would be Mariah Carey's MTV Unplugged EP which is amazing.  Once I bought the album I fell in love with the rest of the songs but it took a long time because I focused on I’ll Be There for a while.  I’ll Be There is originally a Jackson 5 song, however I prefer Mariah's version.

Mariah Carey: Hero

Hero is one of my favorite songs.  I just so happen to be named after a Hero in Greek Mythology.  His name was Jason and he is synonymous with The Argonauts.  Of course I am not referring to the Toronto Argonauts; however there are a few similarities.  For example, the Toronto Argonauts have won the Grey Cup (equivalent to the Super Bowl in the United States of America) a record 15 times, in the Canadian Football League or CFL.  Of course the Super Bowl is the American equivalent of the Grey Cup in the United States and so therefore it is part of the National Football League or NFL.

Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men: One Sweet Day

I just finished listening to One Sweet Day and all I could imagine was singing this song to my sister who passed away Ten years ago.  It will be 11 this year but I am not looking forward to that because it happened on May 11th and that might mean something.  However I loved celebrating her life last year as it was the Decennial Anniversary, a common occurrence that is often practiced in the East.

Mariah Carey: Emotions

This song is definitely a classic.  I love it so much that I could listen to it a million times.  Not only do I have the Digital version on Compact Disc which is superior to any kind of Digital Download you can get at this present time but I also have the original on Compact Cassette and the “Live” version on Compact Cassette.  For those that have no idea what Compact Cassette is:  all it is; is a traditional Cassette Tape but the proper terminology is Compact Cassette, much like Compact Disc except that Stereo 8 preceded Compact Cassette, whereas LP record preceded the Compact Disc in terms of circular shape.

Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston: When You Believe

This is seriously one of my favorite songs.  I love it so much and the addition of Whitney Houston is phenomenal.  I adore her and I wish I had more of her material because she does such an amazing job with her vocals.  She is so well trained and I love how she hits those high notes.  They aren’t quite as high as Mariah, but they are high none the less and much more powerful.

Mariah Carey: Anytime You Need a Friend

I just finished listening to the C&C Radio Mix of Anytime You Need a Friend and it was amazing.  This is one of my all-time favorite Mariah Carey songs.  I love it and it reminds of the love I felt preceding Christmas as I was listening to her Christmas Music nonstop.  It was amazing and I highly recommend her two, not one, but two Christmas Albums.  They are entitled Merry Christmas and Merry Christmas II You.

Mariah Carey: Honey

Honey was a long-awaited release.  I remember hearing it when I lived in Ontario and that was some years after the release of Fantasy.  I was still in high school when Fantasy was released and by the time Honey was released I had graduated and become a post-secondary student.  Those were the days but I definitely take my education with me and this song in particular really allowed me to develop as a person and writer.

Spice Girls: Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

I finally finished my Spice Girls set.  It was quite amazing but I am in no way done with this group.  Especially with the demise of The Pussycat Dolls and Destiny’s Child; I had high hopes for the Pussycat Dolls but I understand Nicole Scherzinger had to do her own thing.  Destiny’s Child really delivered, but no one quite does it like the Spice Girls.

Spice Girls: Holler

Holler is a great song.  It was most likely my favorite dance number from that era.  When I say era I don’t mean a very long time so don’t be confused with other great dance songs from that same time period.  I am more or less thinking specifically of when this album was released and the months preceding that.  The album is Forever and it was released in November of 2000.

Spice Girls: Let Love Lead the Way

I would say that Let Love Lead the Way is most definitely my favorite Spice Girls song.  It encompasses everything I want in a song.  Unfortunately it was not that commercially successful as this album was their first and last release after Geri Halliwell left and it was also released as a double-single along with Holler.  That was a big mistake in my mind, but none the less it got a lot of attention from me.

Spice Girls: Goodbye

Another sad song; it’s terrible when groups break up but when you are as successful as the Spice Girls then it’s difficult to stick together.  This is about Geri Halliwell's departure and the after effects of that.  I will be so thankful to write about something different for my next Blog entry as I am tired of talking about Geri Halliwell's departure.  It was so sad but I have to say that their best work was done without her as they became more grounded and spiritual.

Spice Girls: Viva Forever

Viva Forever” was a great song; unfortunately for me it signifies the end of the Spice Girls as we knew it.  Geri Halliwell did not appear in the video and so therefore it was not as exciting as it could have been.  I would have really liked to have seen her in it; however I understand that she had bigger concerns.  For instance, she decided to release three solo albums, all of which went basically nowhere, but it did put her on the map as a formidable force.

Spice Girls: Spice up Your Life

Spice up Your Life was a great song and still is.  It was released from another massively successful album from the Spice Girls entitled Spiceworld.  But unfortunately this album represents the Spice Girls demise as Geri Halliwell, also known as Ginger Spice left the group shortly after this albums release.  It was a sad state of affairs as I remember it so vividly.  However they did successively release another album with what was left of the group and then went on to reunite in June of 2007 to launch a Reunion Tour and Greatest Hits album.

Spice Girls: 2 Become 1

2 Become 1 was released as the third single from the massively successful debut album from the Spice Girls entitled Spice.  It was so successful that it became “the biggest-selling album in music history by a girl group and one of the most successful albums of all time.”  That quote is taken directly from Wikipedia.  Usually I don’t do that but that quote was so well-written that I couldn’t help it.  So therefore 2 Become 1 was so interesting that it became one of the best-selling singles as well.

The Hills: Season One, Episode One

I finally finished the First Episode of The Hills from Season One.  That’s the Pilot episode or Series Premiere considering it went on to produce multiple seasons.  It was worth the wait but I can’t exactly say completely worth it, although in the back of my mind I knew that would be the case.

The Simple Life: Season Three (Interns), Episode Seven

That was a pretty good episode of The Simple Life.  It wasn’t one of my favorite episodes but it was a good episode none the less.  I think what I will do is start watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians again since that show really stimulates my mind given that I have only seen it once.

Private Practice: Season Two, Episode Fourteen

That was a pretty good episode of Private Practice.  Not the best and definitely not the most exciting but it was good none the less.  Anyhow I don’t really recommend this show, unless you are totally into Medical Dramas.  Of which I am not really.  I used to love ER and I kind of grew up watching St. Elsewhere but that’s where I kind of draw the line as ER was phenomenal and I find it so hard to replace a show like that.

Lost: Season Five, Episode Ten

That was seriously the best episode of Lost I have ever seen.  ABC has been so good to me, or should I say I to it.  They produce some of the most amazing shows and although they have diminished somewhat in production; that shouldn’t stop you from going all out and getting some really good programming.  Lost is one show among many, although one of its finest, it being ABC.  Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy also come to mind.

Legend of the Seeker: Season One, Episode Seven

I just wrapped up the Seventh Episode from Legend of the Seeker, entitled Identity.  It was quite exciting but as I have seen it before, not nearly as exciting as it could have been.  Not only that but this particular episode is not my favorite episode; however that should not stop you from buying this series.  It is one of the best ever produced in modern times.  It definitely got me through the Recession and it could help propel you to another level.

Rome: Season One, Episode Five

That was a pretty good episode of Rome.  This time they talked about two very prominent Roman Gods, Jupiter and Pluto.  Apparently they were brothers and this episode also mentioned some other lesser-known Roman Gods:  Juno, Apollo, and Earth.  It was a great episode and if you are a fan of Roman Mythology, the Roman Empire, or Rome in general, then I highly recommend it.

The Tudors: Season Two, Episode Six

I just wrapped up the Sixth Episode of The Tudors from Season Two; within about a week of the preceding episode.  That’s pretty good considering that preceding that, I had taken a long break from this show.  It is really heating up now.  In my opinion the Season Finale of Season Two is the climactic point of the show, given that I have seen it before and as there are a handful of executions.  It’s not my favorite part of the show, rather extremely emotional so it gets my blood pumping and adrenalin released.  It’s somewhat sad as along the way I began to detest Queen Anne, however at the end of her life all I could do was weep.

Celine Dion: Alone

This is a great rendition of this song.  It is most likely my favorite.  Even over the original and that is saying something considering I am in love with Heart.  So apparently this Canadian singer Alyssa Reid remade it as well, but not quite as identical.  When I heard it from her all I could think of was Celine Dion considering that Celine Dion is Canadian as well and the comparison is practically nonexistent.  I prefer Celine Dion's version over hers by far.

Celine Dion: Taking Chances

This is seriously one of the best songs ever produced.  Especially from Celine Dion; it’s from her 13th English album and the first English album by her since Miracle which actually went nowhere.  The one preceding that was a little bit more enlightening; however she hasn’t really had a hit record since A New Day Has Come.  This album changed that though, at least in my mind as it was sort of like her comeback album.  I loved it and I still do.

Celine Dion: All by Myself

Once again a song not written for Celine, so it wasn’t showcasing her full talent.  It’s a great song but I much prefer her recent work.  It’s so much more inspiring and I will get to that in a minute but I just want to touch on this song for a moment.  It was released in October of 1996 but if my memory serves me correctly it didn’t gain full traction until around the beginning of 1997 so I consider it more of a late 90s song as opposed to a mid 90s song.

Celine Dion: Because You Loved Me

This song was a bit overdone.  It was actually from the 1996 film Up Close & Personal but I neglected to see that film as it is not entirely up my alley.  If you have noticed from my Blog I am more of an Action/Adventure kind of Epic film seer.  So having said that I don’t feel a particular affinity towards this song as it encompasses some of the things I detest about those films.

Celine Dion: It’s All Coming Back to Me Now

This was a genius idea.  I am not quite sure if Meat Loaf ever recorded this song, but he definitely wanted to and so it remains that it has a very strong Meat Loaf connection.  However since Celine Dion has recorded it most successfully I highly recommend her version over any other.  Meat Loaf is a great singer; however Celine Dion is – the – powerhouse singer from Canada.

Celine Dion: Think Twice

Think Twice was the fourth song released from The Colour of My Love.  It wasn’t really that great but it was good none the less.  I prefer her other hits, especially from this album.  This album is essentially responsible for her success since it preceded her most successful album in terms of sales south of the border, being the United States of America.  That market is the key market, as far as sales go within the world; no one compares to that market, as in:  if you are successful there then you are most likely to be successful elsewhere.

Celine Dion: The Power of Love

For all intense purposes this is the first single released from Celine Dion's third English-language album entitled The Colour of My Love.  It has great resistance and staying power, however it’s a little lackluster in the originality department, but that is due to the fact that it is a remake.  Originally performed by Jennifer Rush who I had no idea existed until today.  Apparently she is an artist from the 80s and that explains my lack of knowledge as I am a 70s baby and so therefore had little consciousness back then.

Britney Spears: Circus

Circus was released on the heels of Blackout and can you ever tell.  It has great upbeat tempo tracks and some of the singles are even better than its predecessor.  Of course nothing compares to Gimme More and Piece of Me but one of the singles released off of Circus was included with Blackout ironically enough; having said that this is still a great album featuring hit singles such as Womanizer, Circus and If U Seek Amy.

Britney Spears: Blackout

Blackout is seriously one of the best records ever produced.  It definitely ranks up there with one of Britney's best albums, if not the best.  I can’t really think of a better one since Blackout was her comeback album.  I think it’s absolutely amazing although some critics might not agree.  I don’t think there is any song topping Piece of Me in Britney Spears’ Discography.  For those of you not following, a Discography is a complete collection of the releases of a musical act, care of Wiktionary.

Britney Spears: In the Zone

In the Zone produced some great hits, including but not limited to Me Against the Music featuring Madonna; and Toxic.  There is actually a remix of Me Against the Music on the album which is a bonus.  Toxic was and remains the standout smash hit as Me Against the Music was slow at gaining traction.  Most likely because this album, Me Against the Music being the lead single from it, was released effectively two years after the preceding album whereas the three albums released prior to this album, the one aforementioned above being one of them, were literally only released roughly a year apart.

T.I.: Paper Trail

I have been listening to this album quite a bit lately.  It must be because of my current residence in the Ghetto.  I have always lived in the Ghetto on some level and since my adolescence ended in this life, I have remained in it by and large part.  However there are benefits to living in the Ghetto, for example, this album can be most highly enjoyed in the heart of the Ghetto.  It is a very Ghetto-friendly album and it is highly recommendable.

Janet Jackson: Discipline

I just did a mini-featurette of Discipline and I must say that that album really blows me away.  It features the song Feedback; however Rock with U should not be overlooked.  Of course it didn’t do as well commercially speaking but it is right up there with Feedback in terms of quality and it is not very far behind actually.

Madonna: The Confessions Tour

I just finished listening to the most amazing live concert that I have ever listened to.  Of course it was on CD so it wasn’t quite as amazing as it could have been, however it was amazing none the less.  It was brought to me by Madonna and I can never go wrong with her.  She thrills me and excites me every time.  I wish I could have done it a bit differently but I had to respect the people around me otherwise it would have blown me away even more.  I highly recommend this album and the DVD it is accompanied with.

Lady GaGa: The Fame

I must say that this is one of the better albums I own on Compact Disc.  It’s phenomenal and great although I am sad to say it is one of my last CDs.  Shortly thereafter I decide to purchase songs on the internet since I wasn’t getting what I wanted through Compact Disc comprehensively which was including but not limited to the variety of downloading multiple songs that do well, as opposed to buying an entire album and only listening to a few songs.  I found I was buying an entire album and then I would listen to about one song; decide it was too boring to listen to the rest and shelf it.

Legend of the Seeker: Season One, Episode Six

That was a pretty good episode from Legend of the Seeker.  I went for a long time without watching this show but I am pretty sure if memory serves me correctly, that it begins to get more interesting from this moment forward.  After all I missed the first six episodes when I caught this show on the air and therefore I do not remember those episodes as clearly as the next.

Private Practice: Season Two, Episode Thirteen

Another great episode of Private Practice; this show has really grown on me.  I can’t wait to see the Season Finale of this season, being the Second.  I hope that doesn’t happen for a long time though because I do not want to rush through this series as it took me a long time to get it.  However I am looking forward to getting the Third Season although I will not be buying that for quite some time.

Lost: Season Five, Episode Nine

I just finished the Ninth Episode of Lost from Season Five.  It was pretty good but not the best episode I have ever seen.  I have been taking a break from this show to write about more Christmas-related material since it is officially Christmas now and will be for some time.  Of course I am referring to the twelve days of and not the actual day.  None the less it is New Year’s soon too and that should be exciting, so getting back into this show won’t be as bad as I thought.

Grey's Anatomy: Season Five, Episode Twenty Two

That was seriously the most emotional episode of Grey’s Anatomy that I have ever seen.  I tried to hate on it so much and then Alex Karev and Izzie Stevens go ahead and get married.  Weddings are emotional anyways, but to put these two characters together after me longing for them so much, was enough to bring me to tears.  Not only that but I lost my sister to cancer 10 years ago and in this episode Izzie loses her hair.

Ugly Betty: Season Two, Episode Eighteen

I just finished the Season Finale of Ugly Betty from Season Two.  It was pretty exciting but I am glad to be on the Third Season now, officially.  I therefore only have two seasons left since there are only four in this series, but in my opinion the best is yet to come as I remember seeing the Fourth Season while it was on the air for a short time and I know for a fact that the Third Season is exciting.

Rome: Season One, Episode Four

I just finished a really great episode of Rome.  It featured two Roman Gods, Jupiter and Saturn.  Saturn was actually Jupiter's father and the planet Saturn is named after him, often associated with Time and features very luminescent rings.  Whereas Jupiter is the King of the Gods and if you are Sagittarius then you are governed by him since he is the governor of Sagittarius.

The Tudors: Season Two, Episode Five

Now that was an excellent episode of The Tudors, it’s so ironic because one of my neighbors is named Arthur as far as I know and therefore I envisioned him as the King; after all these two kings, Arthur and Henry served England during the last 2,000 years.  That is not really a huge surprise since England didn’t really gain prominence until those years.  However this episode was particularly riveting since a favorite Saint of mine, Sir Thomas More, was highlighted given that he opposed the Reformation and is also a very prominent Lawyer; known as the Patron Saint of Lawyers.

Destiny’s Child: Stand Up For Love

Now this is a great song, but only if you are a fan of love songs; most of which who are reading this will most likely not be.  Having said that, Destiny’s Child produces some of the greatest love songs and this song is no exception.  I highly recommend this song especially if you are interested in any of their other songs because it is most prominently found on their Greatest Hits album.

Destiny’s Child featuring T.I. & Lil Wayne: Soldier

This is another great song.  It features none other than the King of Hip Hop himself, T.I.  Not only that but a King himself of Hip Hop, Lil Wayne.  I don’t usually gravitate to him, but T.I. is always someone I look for guidance from.  He is amazing and I Blog about him all the time even though I have only a little of his work.

Destiny’s Child: Lose My Breath

Lose My Breath is still one of my all-time favorite Destiny’s Child songs.  If not my favorite although there is Survivor as well; none the less Lose My Breath is amazing and I highly recommend it.  For example it is from their supposed comeback album or the album on which they reunited, however I am still holding out for their true comeback or album on which they reunite.  As I believe that they are not through.  How could they be?  They are still so prominent in everyone’s mind and their comeback would be huge.

Destiny’s Child: Survivor

I think we can all safely say that Survivor is the best Destiny’s Child song ever produced.  Of course it’s from the album of the same name and I could not think of my music collection without it.  Of course I have every Destiny’s Child album on Compact Disc except for their debut album, Christmas album and their Remix album; however I do have their Greatest Hits album.

Destiny’s Child: Jumpin, Jumpin

Jumpin, Jumpin was the follow-up to Destiny’s Child's early 2000 smash-hit entitled Say My Name, and I can’t think of a better follow-up than that song.  They really hit the nail on the head with that one considering it was the summer of 2000 and everyone was so excited to begin the new Millennium; that a perfect Club Anthem was just what the doctor ordered.

Destiny’s Child: Say My Name

Say My Name was released as the third single from The Writing’s on the Wall, released in 1999.  However it was the first prominent single released from the group as the other singles did not garner as much traction.  It was actually released in the year 2000 and it made for a great Decade of Destiny’s Child music.  It was actually about five years, but it’s so much easier to say Decade and the fact remains that their entire career pretty much encompasses a Decade.
