Heartbreaker was probably one of the best Mariah Carey singles every, if not the best. It certainly did better commercially than a lot of her other debut singles from new or current albums. Having said that this is when society began to feel a little bit of Mariah Carey fatigue after her massive run-up in the 90s. I would say that she owned the 90s and no other artist really comes close, even Madonna and that says a lot considering she (Madonna) had a massive run-up in the 80s and it didn’t really subside in the 90s.
