BACKSTREET BOYS

Alright so the BackStreet Boys are coming out with yet another album in such a short span of time. What is going on? I thought they were done, not that I mind. Straight through my heart is an amazing upbeat dance number and is doing amazing for them. Maybe the most since incomplete or even further back. We will have to see but thus far it is already reaching number one here in Canada. And that says a lot considering they were almost toast a few years back. But since then they have come out with three records. Yes three records and even though they are down a member. They are still hotter than ever. And this hit proves it with the upscale dance track sounds found in Straight through my heart.

I am looking forward to the rest of the album and although they usually do not produce anything major after the first hit, this time might be different. I saw them in concert last year for the first time and it was like going to a rave. It was awesome and Girlicious opened for them. Wow I won't forget that anytime soon. I prefer to limit my concerts to once a decade or so and this was much worth the wait.

MADONNA

Alright so Madonna has done it again. No surprise there really. It's all about the song and this song in my opinion blows obsessed and I look to you out of the water. It's a huge dance revelation number and will do excellently on her next tour, if she has one. Having said that, well it hasn't taken off for her as much as she would like, but there is still time before it runs out.

It debuted at number like 77 on the billboard hot 100 and I am not sure where it is now. But it is sure to have fallen. That is not to say that it might not have a comeback. I mean real, who hasn't had a comeback this year. I am so sick of all the comebacks, I think I will chill with the Backstreet Boys, since their latest isn't being billed as a comeback. And well Whitney Houston's comeback, or lack there of, well it was pretty dismal, and is sure to fizzle out quickly. Not as quickly as it came in. Because heaven knows that it took forever to gain steam. And even then had a hard time gaining any strength and sustaining it.

Alright well this blog entry is supposed to be about the queen of pop and it will be, I just thought I would add some other note worthy information around. So having said that, Madonna's comeback this year will be the best greatest hits package ever offered. She has close to a million different compilations for this most recent set and it includes all or most of her work. Madonna I have no idea what you are thinking but you must want me to download American Life or something. Because I mean real. What have you done not including one of the best songs ever made on your compilation.

MARIAH CAREY

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is an amazing album with a slew of hits already. Obsessed was a summer run away hit and although it did not fair as well as I gotta feeling, it did well considering this is Carey's second release in under a year and a half and not a four year stint like the Peas. Obsessed is a smash hit and I personally downloaded not only the video to the song but the single as well as I couldn't wait for the album to drop. Having said that I plan on downloading the singles to this album instead of the album itself because I am more of a fan of the singles and remixes of Carey than the album content itself. It's a little more economical for me as well to do this as I often find I neglect to listen to the rest of the album in this single dominated market of downloading song only fanfare frenzy.

Anyhow I would highly recommend this album as a whole if you are more into the Carey of the past as it promises to be a more upbeat album as compared to the E=MC^2 that was most recently released. But if you are more into the single only download era, then I highly recommend the song obsessed and the song I want to know what love is, as this is a cover of a 1980's ballad of Foreigner esteem. Anyhow I am awaiting a more cooperative single for I want to know what love is, as I would love to hear some remixes to that song, as she often does ballad remixes the most interesting and best. Anyhow I highly recommend both songs and I would recommend the rest of the album and any more singles as well. I am sure there will be more follow up singles and I am awaiting those throughout the fall and winter months.

EARTH

Earth is the best documentary of the year. I saw it in the theatre and I also have it on dvd. I recommend this purchase because it is an amazing film about the wildlife on our planet and the landscape the live in. It is made by Disney Nature and is their best film so far having only made one to date, none the less it is stellar. I have only seen very few documentaries in my time, but I realize that this is the best documentary since an inconvenient truth, with Al Gore. I haven't seen anything this moving since then and I highly recommend the purchase if you love anything to do with wildlife and the planet. It chronicles a few families and many other extras. The most interesting is the polar bear family, and I say this because it is filmed in Canada to the best of my recollection and the film chronicles this family the closest. They are in the film from beginning to end and along with a few others impact the movie so much, that you cannot help grow attached to these furry little creatures. Anyhow, it has some great monkeys in it as well, and if you have seen monkeys like I have in real life, then you would have realized that they are extremely funny and comical.

I recommend this movie highly and there is still a coupon online you can find and receive either five dollars off the dvd or ten dollars off the blu ray.

WHITNEY HOUSTON

Whitney Houston has done it again with a super smash hit entitled, I look to you. Although the single is better than the album in my opinion. Only because I would rather have the single than the album, and although the single is on the album, with today's download single only mentality, I see fit to download singles only, for the purposes of this album because I have heard some of the rest of the album and I would have to say that the other songs on the album kind of take away the inspiration in I look to you, the song.

I look to you, the single, has not charted as well as her predecessors, only because it was never really released as the official lead single off of the album of the same name. If you waited like I did to download the album then you might have realized by now that the only song worth downloading at this point is I look to you. I say that because I have not seen enough even though million dollar bill is sure to surpass its unofficial lead single on the charts. I would have to see a music video at this point to make further recommendations although she did make an appearance on good morning america this week and that solidified my ambition to download the single of I look to you, before I purchase the record or continue to download anything else. I am awaiting a music video of hers before I make any other decisions because the buzz has been around her for quite awhile and I have not seen anything, in terms of videos, although Madonna and Mariah Carey have both released videos in that time. I understand it is hard to come back and I appreciate every effort made by her although I am yearning a video.

Having said that I consider this to be the comeback of the decade, if for no other reason than because of I look to you , the song. The black eyed peas have done amazing and because of that I consider theirs to be the comeback of the year. Miss Houston has done it again though and I wish her every success with the Oprah show as well, and then some.
