Borderline was released as the fifth official single from Madonna's debut self-titled Studio album. The first single released from that album was Burning up, Holiday followed that and then Lucky star was released. Holiday is one of Madonna's most well-known hits and after the release of the Studio album on which it's from; Madonna went on to release one of her most successful albums ever in Like a Virgin. Like a virgin, much like Holiday is one of her most well-known hits as well. Of course Borderline is in between those two super hits; but it still did relatively well as a single considering its competition in Holiday and Like a virgin.
