The Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins are probably the most recognizable rock band in recent history. Nothing else comes to mind besides No Doubt, but they are definitely more Pop than Rock, and in fact The Smashing Pumpkins have a more alternative feel, which is always more appealing if you ask me. Of course I am strictly referring to Rock bands only, because No Doubt is most likely my favorite Ska band because they totally blow that genre out of the water. Not only that, but No Doubt overall is more of a Pop group, than a Rock band, because of their mainstream appeal. It’s really quite astonishing really because The Smashing Pumpkins are most definitely my favorite Rock band, but No Doubt is my favorite Ska band. Having said that, they are completely different, although they are both from the same era in history and have not completely given up, but both bands are somewhat in recluse. I recommend The Smashing Pumpkins overall but in particular I would recommend the Machina/The Machines of God album because it features the hit single Stand Inside Your Love, one of the most memorable songs in history. Not only that, but Machina/The Machines of God album is their fifth studio album and most likely their most notable considering it is their last album with Virgin and it consisted of a follow-up album released later that year and was at the height of their career.
