This Used to Be My Playground is a very sad and depressing song. I just finished listening to it and I can remember thinking the same thing when it was released in 1992. It was released in the summer of 1992 and it accompanied the A League of Their Own soundtrack and preceded the much anticipated Erotica album. I have fond memories of this song even though it is somewhat sad and depressing. I remember travelling to Ontario here in Canada while I was listening to this song. Those were great times as we had wealth and prosperity here in North America but I guess those days are over. It’s a sad state and this song just reinforces that and reemphasizes it as well.
