We Belong together was released as the second single from the album entitled The Emancipation of Mimi. That was Mariah Carey’s eighth Studio album discounting her Holiday and Soundtrack albums. We Belong together actually became the most successful single from the decade of the 2000s; spending 14 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard. It thus became her second most successful single of her career.
